About Mars the Limit
Mars the Limit, built by me, Boden Bensema, is a site dedicated to sparking curiosity and creativity in people who want to learn electronics, coding, and chemistry.
My goal for this site is to provide a centralized place for beginning scientists and engineers. Mars the Limit offers engineering and scientific tools, guides, tutorials, and projects all created with beginners in mind.
How it Started
My adventure in engineering started when I was in 5th grade in the thick of COVID-19.
I was playing Minecraft one day, and then I thought to myself, "How in the world did they make this game?" It seemed like magic to me. I had to learn how to code.
My journey in learning how to code as a beginner started with Python. I bought a book and made all sorts of beginner Python projects. Most notably, I made Pretzel Clicker during this time.
From there, I learned whatever I thought looked interesting.
Once I became confident in coding, I wanted to build real, physical systems. I started with the Elegoo Starter Kit, learning the basics of electronics: breadboards, resistors, and essential components for beginners.
Then I got into digital electronics and eventually built a simple computer from scratch. It wasn't complex (just a binary counter reading from an EPROM and sending data to an LCD) but building it myself taught me how computers work at the hardware level. More importantly, it showed me how much I love designing and building electronic systems.
Expanding Territories
During my sophomore year of high school, I took chemistry—and I was immediately hooked. I began exploring different reactions and mixtures and became fascinated by how chemicals interact and release energy. Chemistry felt like the closest thing to magic I had ever experienced.
I also started experimenting with simple electrochemistry. One of my first projects was building a basic battery using a copper solution I created through electrolysis and a steel nail, which produced about 0.74 volts. That project showed me how chemical reactions can be used to generate electricity and strengthened my interest in how physical systems work.
Why I Created Mars the Limit
Originally, I created Mars the Limit as a place to store what I learned about science. Then I realized that beginners may find this site helpful, so I made it public. This site is meant to be a place where beginners learn how to start learning engineering.
Mars the Limit not only strives to teach beginners about science, but to kindle their creativity flame for engineering. With the emergence of AI and short form videos, this flame is dwindling. I hope to inspire you, reader, to create instead of consume.
As a Christian, this is an important philosophy for me. God put us on this Earth to love Him and to steward what we have. Mars the Limit is what I have created in hopes you will create as well.
What You'll Find Here
This site provides guides, tutorials, tools, and personal projects I have been working on.
Tutorials and Guides
The guides and tutorials are written to help you advance from a beginner to an expert in engineering concepts.
I include examples of how circuits work step by step, what the fundamental laws of circuits are, and more all written to explain engineering concepts for beginners.
Unlike the textbooks, I have real world examples and builds you can do at home to learn how and why the circuit or code or chemistry works. Hands-on learning is the best way to learn. People learn better from their own mistakes.
Engineering Tools
The tools on this site are designed to make the engineering process easier for students, builders, and hobbyists.
I made the tools to solve problems that I had while working on my projects. The tools help me with small things like saving a few seconds here and there and big things like making a 3D model of a Calculus problem.
Every tool on this site is accurate and helpful for engineering projects of all shapes and sizes.
Projects & Builds
From coding to circuits to chemical, all projects on this site are designed by me, Boden Bensema, and are on this site to inspire you, the user.
Currently, the only project I have available is Pretzel Clicker. In the future, more projects will be on this site with skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Mars the Limit's Quality and Integrity
I ensure that all the content on this site is accurate and high quality information.
Designed for beginners, the information on this site is also meant to be accessible and easy to understand for all levels of skill.
If you feel like my content is not up to these standards, please feel free to contact me. I strive to be reliable and trustworthy.
